Jacob Family Grows as Concept Manufacturing add breed
for Colour
Concept Manufacturing of Worcestershire has increased their
innovative ‘Jacob by Design’ natural carpet range
with the clever blending of wool breeds to achieve different
colours without adding dye.
‘Jacob Velvet’ manufactured from the wool of
the horned Jacob sheep has been blended with the wool from
the Shetland Moorit sheep to enable a beige to be created
and broaden the design potential for the 98% natural undyed
and chemical free, eco-friendly carpet.
A further three shades have been added to six existing colours
in the 45oz per sq. yard ‘Jacob Velvet’ which
won a commendation at the British Wool Marketing Board’s
International Quality Awards in 2004. The new shades are ‘Moorit
Beige’, ‘Beige/Black Sheep Marl’ and ‘Cream
beige/Marl’.
Also, Concept will introduce ‘City Slicker’,
a stylish pin stripe carpet to the ‘Jacob by Design’
range. This is a clever blend of velvet yarn and hard twist
yarn, the velvet creating a light absorbing background and
the twist reflecting light and giving subtle design definition.
Available in four colours, beige velvet/cream twist stripe,
cream velvet/pewter twist stripe, black sheep velvet/pewter
twist stripe and a cream velvet and a cream-black sheep marl
velvet/black sheep twist stripe. ‘City Slicker’
is manufactured in 42 oz per square yard.
“Our colour bank is totally natural and therefore totally
unique but this carpet appeals not only because of the eco
aspects but also because it is very suited to the style and
colours for contemporary living.” Commented Alan Jones-Bratt,

All of the ‘Jacob by Design’ Collection is produced
in 100% new virgin British Wool on a jute hessian backing
and is available in 4 metre width.

Jacob Velvet Cream was used in the production of an upcoming
movie "Dr No Good 000", starring Charlie Sheen amongst
others.
Jacob takes to the stage - April 2005
Jacob Velvet Blacksheep was used at the Gielgud Theatre,
London for the stage production of Little Women.

NEW CONCEPT IN CARPETING
A carpet with a very different appearance and a totally natural
product, in 100% British Wool, has recently been launched
by the new Concept Manufacturing Carpet Co Ltd, Established
by Alan Jones-Bratt. This is naturally coloured in shades
of cream and brown - no two fleeces are entirely the same
- and, because of the breed's individual appearance, flocks
can often be seen grazing in parklands and stately homes.
After considerable research and groundwork, Alan has produced
the first ever Jacob carpet range in 100% undyed Jacob Wool.
'Jacob Velvet' is a densely constructed tufted carpet, offering
a small collection of very individual carpets in plains and
marls shades from cream to rich sable. It is suitable for
very heavy wear and manufacturing in a 45 oz pile weight,
4 metre width. Alan's plan is eventually to offer 3 ranges
within the Jacob Collection, a 3-fold yarn marl will follow
shortly and the third will give a textured effect. Initial
reaction to the Jacob Velvet has been very favourable and
in order to maintain the exclusive marketing advantage of
the carpet Alan is restricting the number of dealerships. |
